We
adopted Roux 2 weeks ago today. She is the best
dog!! She's been out to meet the neighbors, took her
to PetSuppliesPlus and she behaved. Everyone that
meets her, loves her. We couldn't ask for a better
dog. We recently lost 3 of our dogs, all boys
over 10 yrs old, within the last 6 months. They were
all rescues. I would not trade the time with them
for anything, it was so very hard. I have had a dog
in my life for the last 24 yrs, and when I lost my
last
one, Doc, I started looking. I went on to Petfinders
and had 3 dogs in mind. I came across Roux and fell
in love with her. When her foster dad & Pam came out
to the house with her, I knew she was the one for
me. She is a Katrina survivor and back then when the
hurricane hit, I belonged to an organization based
out of Utah (Best Friends Animal Society)., they
were taking donations. I got together with the
people at work and my neighbors and we sent boxes of
items for the displaced animals. I think this was
just meant to be. She is like my shadow. I love my
little girl. She had a great foster home for 2 1/2
yrs. I know she is missed there, but she has a new
loving, forever home. My vet and all the techs fell
in love with her. She will have a good life her with
us.
Thank you for all that you do.
Mary Kay
March 20, 2005 was a sad, sad day in our house. Our
thirteen year old Collie, Sullivan, passed away. He
was tired and achy and he had given us the best
years of his life. Two houses, a marriage and the
births of two children – not to mention traveling,
camping, and way too many children’s birthday
parties – all of these things he had gone through
with us. He had aged before our eyes and I hadn’t
even realized how truly tired and achy he was until
he was gone. The house was too quiet; no pitter
patters of gentle claws on the wood floor, no subtle
tail wagging or sweet little kisses.
We
lasted only two weeks without a furry friend. We
contacted breeders and even drove an hour and a half
to meet a collie puppy but my 4 year old refused to
get out of the car after experiencing puppy manners.
No one could replace Sullivan, but still it was just
too lonely.
I
discovered Petfinders.com and I was overwhelmed by
the vast numbers of animals who needed homes. Page
after page, how would I know which one was for us?
And then, there he was… the happiest, scruffiest
looking face. My son who was 7 and a half and a Star
Wars fanatic said he looked like Chewbacca. About 4
years old, Buddy was a Benji look alike who loved
people and dogs of all ages. Rescued by a postal
worker after being abandoned and tied to a garage,
this dog, we had to meet.
The next day, Buddy visited our home with his foster
mom, Holly, whom he clearly adored. He was house
trained and sweet. His manners were impeccable and I
knew he was the dog for us when my daughter wouldn’t
stop smiling around him. There was no saying goodbye
to Buddy. He moved in that day. Always a good
sport, his days have been filled with tea parties in
full dress up clothes, GI Joe rescue missions, games
of chase, story time snoring and many a belly rub.
All he asks is be included in your life and for
that he gives back all of his affection.
Now the kids are getting a little older. My youngest
has started school and
Buddy, still sweet and loving, is slowing down a
bit. I found myself having “puppy” urges. I again
thought about contacting breeders but after talking
with my veterinarian, I realized that for us, what
really matters is a dog with personality, so I found
myself once again, browsing Petfinders.Com. After a
couple of weeks of what I call “dog stalking,” I
noticed a new listing. Oscar, a 10 month old
wolfhound/terrier mix was described as full of
energy and lover of play. Found curled up by a park
garbage can in the rain, there was no mistaking the
look in his eyes; sweet, intelligent, and even
slightly mischievous. We had to meet him. And when
we did, we were immediately taken by his exuberant,
wagging nubby tail and cheerful glint in those deep
brown eyes. We could tell he was a keeper. Our only
concern was introducing him to Buddy. Would they get
along?
What I love about PAWS and this is one of the
reasons I felt so comfortable adopting a second
time, is that they take time to really know their
rescued dogs. Oscar’s foster mom said he would do
well with Buddy and went out of her way to help us
introduce them. We took them on walks and let them
play at a dog park and I was convinced we were the
right home for Oscar.
It’s now been a month and our family feels complete…
mom, dad, two kids, two dogs and a hamster. There’s
more excitement as the Kong ricochets through the
house and there’s more warmth on the couch with feet
tucked carefully under warm furry bottoms. There’s
nothing like watching two sleeping black noses,
inches apart, looking as my mother would say, like
angels. It’s like they’ve always been here. I can’t
for the life of me imagine why anyone would
abandoned such magnificent, loving and loyal
creatures and am eternally grateful to PAWS for
rescuing Buddy and Oscar (now affectionately called
Rascal). I think you’ve made two dogs happy and one
family even happier. Thank you for changing our
lives for the better!
Granddaughter
is here this weekend. She is Palos new best
friend...

This
is Jack. He went to the beauty shop. Tom, Mimi
and the kids LOVE him. Corky (their silky terrier)
is still getting used to him, but they are doing
very well.
In the summer of 2006 I
had to put down my 18-year old cat, Lestat. While we
had cats as family pets when I was growing up, I
considered him my first cat. It was a devastating
experience and I did not know when I would be ready
to adopt a new cat. However, my second cat, Othello,
who does not deal well with change & being alone,
started over grooming after we lost Lestat.
So
in October 2006, I adopted Hamlet--10-weeks-old,
barely two pounds, but full of energy & personality.
While Othello stopped over grooming & adjusted to
having a companion again, the 13-year age difference
began to show. Hamlet's unbounded energy & desire to
play all the time didn't quite fit with Othello's
"senior schedule."
I decided I should adopt a third cat, closer in age
to Hamlet to be his playmate/companion--and
to give Othello a break! So one Sunday in January I
made the rounds of the APL and various PetSmarts in
the area. It was at the Parma PetSmart that a very
beautiful & sweet little white cat caught my
attention. I'm not sure if it was her distinctive
markings, her gorgeous amber eyes, or the fact she
was snuggled up to & cleaning the head of her cage
mate that did it, but I knew as soon as I saw her
that she was the one.
She has been part of the family for two months now
and things could not be going better. With her sweet
& nurturing personality, the other two cats accepted
her much faster than I expected. That's not to say
that she's a pushover though--she chases as much as
she is chased and I've witnessed more than one
unprovoked "slap to the head" of Hamlet just to get
him to play with her.
Thank you to all those involved with PAWS Ohio. I am
truly grateful for the work done on behalf of the
stray, abandoned and neglected animals in the area
because I would not have Monet today if not for
their efforts.
Christine
Winston and
his new family

As
you all know that we lost our beloved cat, Bucket,
one month ago. It has been a very sad place at our
house over this. We decided it was time to open our
hearts and home. We did this yesterday once we
adopted our new family members from PAWS: please
welcome.......Bitz (formally known as Rena) and
Chase (formally known as Elmer). We could not live
with the name Elmer and Bitz is short for ( bubitztu,
we think) which in Polish means "Sweetheart"! Bitz
is a female about five months old and Chase is a
male who is four months old. Both are adjusting to
their new home and each other. Bitz still hisses at
Chase but not very much. Chase really wants to
interact with her. This morning they were chasing
each other so it will be a matter of time. If you
can't read the names in the photos, Chase is the
cuddy white and stripped baby and Bitz is the
slender, tiger.
We still hold Bucket close to our hearts (and always
will). Our new babies are finding their own way in!
Len and I are so pleased to have them!!!
All our Love,
Pam and Len (new mommy and daddy)
Here is a
picture of Barkley.
He's about 50-60 pounds right now and is very
outgoing, even wanting to socialize with cats:).
He's tons of fun and we're hoping a new puppy
would provide him with a live-in friend and
playmate.
All went well with
Sheila this weekend. She is certainly aiming to
please with everything. Sit, Down, Come and easy
with the treats are already working well. She sleeps
in our bed but today will come the real test. We
will have to put her in the crate for a few hours,
but I just keep thinking what the alternative would
have been for her. She was even cold this morning.
The thought of her out in this weather just makes me
ill. Thanks again for all your help and Meg is just
a wonderful Lady. She makes me feel better about the
whole Human Race. I spoke with her twice already and
she is very impressed with the way Sheila is working
out. Thanks again for all the work you guys do. God
bless you. A happy dog owner. Liz & Joe
Scamp
(Dave) is doing great here. We love him, and he's
really part of our
family. He and I get Leah on the bus in the morning
and then take about a 2 mile walk with some
neighbors. I take him to the Metro Parks most
afternoons for another walk. When the bus drops Leah
off, he gets so excited he does what we call a 'butt
wag'!

Our cat Sam is good friends with him and they share
a mat for a bed. Scamp is still fixated on the
other cat, Smudge, and follows him around like a
love sick pup! He still eats like he may never get
another meal--he
finishes his food in under a minute!
We really appreciate the good care you took of him
and would love to
have you stop over for a visit if you're in the
area.
Kris
I'd
say that Bentley is doing just great!! He is a
spoiled, nutty dog. He still has a ton of energy &
drives his brother crazy. He is always looking for
attention & when he doesn't get it he just keeps
barking at you until you do something. He is great
with my girls & everyone else. We are still working
on his listening skills - I never did get him formal
training,
but he does just fine. As he gets older, he is
becoming a little more relaxed. Everyday, we are so
happy to have him. He is a sweet, beautiful boy and
we love him very much.
Thank you,
Marilyn
This
is Calli (Eve) and her new family. Looks like
she is enjoying her new forever home!
This is Molly
Just wanted you to see how she has
grown. She’s 55 lbs and just loves her daddy. She
just came back from the beauty dog place.
Angie Di Franco
All
is AMAZING!!!!! He is such an outstanding pooch. And
we are keeping close ties with Anthony. Cooper went
over for a play date with Bailey, Bella and Elsie on
Sunday. J
We are just so thrilled to have him as part of our
family. He is so smart and has learned so much. And
he has grown a bit.
Even though we have been very successful in teaching
him all sorts of things, we are going to work with a
trainer after Christmas so that we can all learn
even more.
Happy Holidays!
Maggie Busser

I just wanted to say
hello and let you see how big I am getting (and my
sisters). I love it here!
Gizmo (Brach)

We picked up Cooper
last night. He had come over for a visit last week,
so he was already familiar with us and our house.
He’s super precious! And oh so well behaved. We are
absolutely thrilled.
He is adjusting really well. I truly give Anthony a
ton of credit for doing such a great job with him.
He really does everything like an angel – he knows a
few commands, he walks well on a leash and he
doesn’t beg… oh yeah, and he loves to cuddle. What
more could we want!?!?!
Thanks for all your help. I have told many folks
about PAWS already. And when we are ready for number
two, I’ll come to your organization first.
In puppy love,
Maggie Busser

Just an update on Blue. who says

Back
in September my husband and I adopted mulch kittens
Holly and Oakley- now Boo-Boo and Pinky - and they
have been the perfect addition to our family!
Boo-Boo is quite the lap cat; she adores being
cuddled and petted constantly. Pinky, while
preferring to sit next to you rather than on you,
mews for attention and likes to roll on her back to
have her belly scratched. Both kittens are
essentially our shadows; they are often on our heels
and follow us from room to room. When they do go off
for some alone time their favorite hangout is
definitely the kitty tree in our kitchen. On nice
days they cuddle together on the top most tier to
bask in
the
sunlight. They are also very curious and playful.
Every shopping bag and empty cardboard box is a new
adventure, and when they chase the laser pointer –
one of their favorite activities – they bring
“ornery” to a whole new level! In reflecting on
their sad beginnings – PAWS rescued these kittens
along with their brother after they were found
crawling out of a mulch pile dumped for landscaping
– we are just so happy that we could give them a
forever home where they will be cared for and loved
for the rest of their lives. No more mulch for these
kitties! Thank you PAWS for helping us make Pinky
and Boo-Boo a part of our family.
Sincerely,
Angela and Jimmy Thomas

Gizmo
and Macey have been playing together for the last
two days! They are cute. They run and tag each
other, run and hide, find and run again. They make
my heart happy. Macey has now noticed there is
someone new. She is acting like she did when Darla
came home but not nearly as bad.
Kim
Bam Bam is
doing great. He has been so much fun. In the week
and a half that we have had him, he has done so
much. He has learned to go up and down the steps!!!
He is so sweet and loving, we are so lucky to have
him. We took him to meet his new vet and got him
established and they think that he is wonderful. We
have also met a groomer that we like and Bam Bam
liked her too. I also wanted to make sure that you
received the contract and our check? Thanks again
for all you did for us, we greatly appreciate it!
Tanya
Everything
is going great! Blue is really happy and settling in
just fine. The picture that is attached is of Blue, Zoe and Maggie, their playmate. They like to play
together and go for long walks in the park. I sent
Ginny a picture of Blue and Zoe and she was happy to
hear that they are getting along. Thank-you for
starting the whole process for us. It was a pleasure
to work with you and I hope to, down the road, work
with you again. Thank you,
Cassandra
The kids are doing
well... Rocco is much better and Boots is almost
completely better as well. The proof is in this
picture! Boots loves to play in the laundry baskets,
and
Rocco climbed in just to antagonize his brother. We
will be sure to send you periodic pics, so you can
see how big he is. But feel free to stop over
anytime to visit him.
Talk to you soon!

How lucky I am
to have adopted "LUCKY". He is a wonderful dog, kind and
loving. I cant believe he is completely housebroken and so
easy to
live with. He easily adjusted to his forever home. Here are
some pictures of him in his home and
with a couple of new friends. I can't thank you people enough.
The adoption process was seamless and everyone I dealt with from the
initial interview to his foster mother were wonderful people.
Keep up the great work you do.
Thanks again,
Julie and Lucky
I
adopted Zsu Zsu a year ago from you. She was so thin, I was told by
PAWS that the warden had to carry her down to the animal van. Sheila
P. was her foster home. Zsu Zsu has been such a sweetheart! She is
my "Velcro" dog.
I thought you
might like
to see a "before" (when I first adopted her) and "after" (taken this
past month) picture.
Thank-you for Zsu Zsu!
Corrine

Thought
you'd like to see Baby as she gets used to her new family. We had
her groomed on Monday (complete with bows in her hair, as you'll see
in the photos!) She looks so cute. She LOVES to go for a car
ride, and
every time we go out the front door, she thinks she's going
somewhere. So some of these pictures were taken inside the
car!

When we got
home he was introduced to the neighbors and did not bark but twice.
I told him no, gave him a leash correction and he stopped. He
laid at my feet while they pet him. He met their dogs, Little bit,
Shitzu, and Tuey, Golden. He learned that I would protect him which
worked out well.

His tour of the house went well, no pee! He met the cat at the door
and she did run away but he did not chase her. He just sniffed the
house out and gave it a good once over. I took him around on the
leash but allowed him to lead. He walked into the den and found his
new crate with Titans old blanket on the bottom. He walked in,
sniffed and laid down, as if he knew this was a special blanket. He
found a carpet right away and claimed it as his own. Good spot I
might say, right by the back sliders to the deck. We gave him a
couple treats and allowed him to play with some of the new and old
toys. He drank from Titans bowl and I am glad you told me about
keeping his old stuff, I enjoy watching Stevo have fun with his
toys, Thanks! We have had some neighbor visits and a pizza guy, no
barks!

He did well at night. He wanted to stay at the front door, just like
Titan did at the end, which I found odd. He would lay down in the
same spots that Titans did, dogs are so smart. When he got up he
seemed to like the new crate. We put Titans old sleeping pad,
freshly washed, and he laid right down. He got some kisses and pets
and went to sleep. We were tired and went to bed at about 9:30 and
we slept through the night with only a couple shakes of the head. We
got up at about 6:30 and he went outside to do his business. He ate
breakfast and seems to enjoy us and the house.
I just wanted to
thank you for our new puppy, Copper, formally
known as Charlie. He has been a wonderful
addition to our family. He gets along great with
our golden and is pure joy to our kids. He is
quite a character and fits in well with the
craziness of our house.
Thanks,
The Seely's
I
wanted to tell you how well Mittens, the kitten (formerly named
GRANDPA
and aka: SMOKEY) has adjusted to his new home since we got him from Petsmart at
Aurora, Ohio. They both love the cat tree for exercise and viewing the birds in
my Florida room, they eat Fancy Feast grilled tuna together nicely. Mooney is my other grey cat of six yrs.
He loves Mittens and is now getting used to having a kid sibling pawfriend in the house. He used to enjoy
long naps...now he must entertain the little one daily...MEOW! I have Vet approved microban feeders and a drinkwell with constant running cool water to sooth their thirst- after a romp and Westside story rumble during the evening kitty pent up energy madness after the news at ten pm. They both sleep on my bed at night like
two gargoyles and hood ornaments on each side of my pillow. Life is good!
After
all who wouldn't love this Florida room with live birds outside to
watch, a drinkwell and Vet approved microban feeders and all the
Fancy Feast grilled tuna I need for dinner. Life is good. As you can
see, the effects of a permanent home and loving feline and human
friends make for a relaxing atmosphere. I love my cat tree where I
have managed top rung, and all my toys. I love the smell of catnip
in the morning and my toy mice I play air hockey with on the wooden
floors in the rec room. My catmom named me Mittens because I am a
Polydactyl and it suites me well as I look like I am wearing white
gloves on my paws. I am very quiet and fun loving usually, but I did
take a nibble on Catmamam's new couch just to let her know I am just
a kitten called Mittens. They love me now!

I
cannot tell you enough how grateful I am for Zsu. She is the
sweetest baby, so ready for love & affection. She loves getting
brushed, & she loves snuggling with Mom! She is not at all
aggressive, but you would think she would be because of all she has
been through. Her coat is coming in beautifully, & she is looking
well. I swear she actually smiles for me! We regularly groom her &
clip her nails. She now
has
a little brother who is 7 months old named Patrick (he outweighs her
already). She gets along well with him. We find her sleeping always
next to Mac, even when they are out in the huge yard, there will be
Mac & Zsu Zsu side by side sleeping in the corner. Zsu
is with her husband Mac, doing what the two do best, sleep together!
Warmest Regards,
Corrine A. Terschak
Blessed Holidays and hope you had as
good a Christmas dinner as we did.
Lady Alice Hummer and the twins Whisper and Molly. Thanks Judy

They are healthy happy little kitties who
have been chasing each other up and down the
stairs all morning!
About three
minutes after we brought them in the house
they
were exploring the fireplace.
They love the
stairs! We renamed them Rocky (the boy)
and Addy (short for Adrian is the girl).
Thanks again!
We couldn't be more in love with them!
Brooke

Two pics of Belle that I wanted to share with you. She's MUCH happier
than she looks (maybe it's because Joe, my friend and her "dad," is
making her wear an Ohio State hat -- after all, she slept on a
University of Michigan blanket at my house...!!!).
Thought that you would enjoy these, and feel great knowing that she
has an amazing life now. Joe takes her jogging with him every
morning! And he lets her determine his jogging route...! Her family
worships her! Every time Joe sees me, he can't stop talking about
her.
And, guess what? She weighs a whopping 28 pounds now!!! That's at
least five pounds more than she was when she came to us! She's
really filling out beautifully! I'm going to go over to Joe's and
spend some time with her next week. Can't wait to see her!
GO CAVS & GO BUCKEYES!
Carol
Shadow is
doing great. She is such a pleasure & she always has a smile on
her face. We just love when she wags her curly Q tail. Tim says
that she is scratching her back. She sleeps in the middle of us
up by the pillow. Her & her young sister, Phoebe, are hilarious.
They just go, go, go. They get along with their older sister,
Penny, but
basically Penny will tell them when they are being a little too
rough. We put up our real Christmas tree today & Shadow was our
Christmas angel. She laid under the tree. Tim & I can't believe
how far she has come. She is so outgoing now . She is truly a
special dog. Here is the Christmas picture of our boys & girls.
We were going to be in it also, but Shadow gave Tim a black eye.
He went to pick her up, to move her & she jerked her head & hit
Tim right smack in the eye. He had to go to the Vet & he told
her the story. She told Tim that he should use "Your wife popped
you in the eye." Isn't that funny? What are the odds. Shadow
will even give him kisses on his boo-boo eye. As you can see,
our new additions are working out great.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Tim & Michelle Naypauer
Jack's weighing
in at about 55 lbs right now. His growth has started to
plateau. We were thinking for a while there that he was going to be
pushing the century mark. He's gotten very tall with long legs and
is very lean. He's rock solid though, which means when he chases me
up the stairs and then pounces on me when he finds me, it's a bit
painful...but fun none the less. He is in puppy school. He's doing
well. As far as we can tell he is completely housebroken. He has
been for some time I think, but now I'm confident he isn't
going
to have an accident unless he comes to tell me to take him out and I
ignore him several times. Right now we are working on improving his
leash walking and his not jumping on people when they come over.
He's getting better at both, but he is still just a puppy so small
improvements are big deals to both he and us. You told us to have
fun and "love that puppy unconditionally." If it is possible to love
him even more, we have accomplished that. I cannot begin to tell you
how happy we are to have him, and I like to think he feels the same
way. I wish I could wake up in the morning with the same enthusiasm
for the day that he does. Unfortunately, at 6:00 AM I'm not quite as
chipper. However, come 6:05 when he comes back in from his morning
bathroom break, who ever is still in bed is in for a heck of
surprise when 55 lbs of slobbering puppy leaps onto the bed and
licks your face right off.
Jack is great...he has the energy of 100 puppies, and he loves us
more than we could ever imagine. Thank you so much for allowing us
to adopt him. We'll have to get him and his much larger brother
together sometime so they can play. The only time Jack pays less
attention to us is when he has the opportunity to play with anther
puppy...or squirrel...or cat....or leaf
even!!
Thank you!
Kevin
I
am very happy to tell you that Dixon- now renamed Brody- is
a VERY happy boy!! He has done very well: completed obedience training, remains very housebroken and has become much less
sensitive to people and home life. He had some issues with
being very nervous and sensitive to being touched- however-
is now actually pretty calm and relaxed most of the time.
He also now loves to be hugged and kissed- which was
difficult at first. I made a big decision about a
month and a half ago to get him a sister because he had
soooo much energy (despite what
seemed like constant walking) and things couldn't be
better! They are the ultimate best friends. Her name is
Kyah and she is also a rescue- she was a returned puppy and
is now 7 months old. Even though she is half his size at 28
lbs- she definitely bosses him around- and he just lets her! So- just wanted to thank you for all that you have done for Brody and so many others. Kyah and I love him to pieces- and my
cat
doesn't mind him either- which is a big accomplishment!
Thanks so much!!
Jessie Stricker

Melody just wanted to say Hi and to thank you for rescuing her.
She likes being a house kitty and she loves Chester, her foster
brother!

Just
wanted to say thank you for Hailey. She is a beautiful dog. She
is doing really well now. She had a rough start. Her
body was
rejecting the stitches from her "fixin'". So, she got really sick.
She took two rounds of antibiotic and finally her stitches dissolved.
We had her for about 2 months before they were all gone and she wasn't sick
anymore. Since then, she has really started to become active and puppyish. She steals the kid's toys all of the time - not to chew them,
but for them to chase her. We got an invisible fence for the dogs.
They love it! Hailey would stay outside all day - if it would stop
raining! She is a very gentle dog - we love her very much!
The Labbe's
 Just
wanted to send a few pictures of
Shadow (aka
Parker). She is doing
great.
It's so nice to have
noise
& have play
time with the dogs.
Thanks again...
Love, Tim & Michelle Naypauer

We
thought you might like to see a few pictures of how the little man (aka
Stormy) has adapted to life at our house. He is just such a joy--both Levi
and I just shake our heads as to how the little man managed to find us. He
gets along very well with his big sisters. Bella loves to wrestle with him
and they thunder up and down the hallway half the night playing. But the
little guy (who we just call "little man" most of the time) has a very
special bond with Jeeves. When we first got him, he adopted her and she
would clean him and cuddle him and he would curl up and sleep in her big
soft belly. They are still best friends. We can't thank you enough for
introducing us to the little man. He is our
sunshine on cloudy Cleveland days!
Christine, Levi, Bella, Jeeves, and Little Man

We
just love her to pieces. I would have a house full
of cats if I could, but my husband told me he was
cutting me off at number three, so I had to make
sure that #3 was particularly special, and she is.
We all love her (she is just the right amount of
sweet and sassy!).
I know you had a hard time letting her go, but trust
me, I told you that my house was kitty heaven, and
it is. Pickles has many fun places to venture and
relax: she has a fluffy cat bed by a
sun-drenched window (but why go in that when she can
cram with the other 2 cats, my 6'4" husband, and my
5'10" self in our queen bed?)...she has a deluxe
kitty climber/window seat fully carpeted and
complete with sisal rope for scratching that my husband
made...she has a screened in
porch complete with
bird feeders right outside of the screen to keep her
adequately entertained (and a bit frustrated!)...she
has a seven year old girl with ample energy to meet
her own for endless playing...she has a desk full of
paperwork to sprawl out on, knock around, and mix
up...she has a black kitty named Olive to play Mommy
kitty and to keep her in line...and she has a pudgy
orange tabby friend named Peanut to play and cuddle
with (move over Romeo & Juliet, here come Peanut &
Pickles)...and most importantly...she has a house
full of security, adventure, and love. She has
truly found her "forever home." What more could a
kitty ask for?
So feel free to pass
our story along. I wish all of our animals could
find such homes (who else just lives to give
love...and asks only for a bit of love in return?).
Stray adoption is the way to go!!!! Thanks
for giving us Pickles!!!!
Thanks Again,
Alex, Chris, &
Bianca Frech
Thank
you so much for being such a good foster for Madison. She has proved to be a
real lover! She looks great in her red bandana, which also helps to muffle
the tinkling of her tags - ID, rabies and county license. She's learned to
walk very well without pulling on the leash, and is also learning to heel
pretty well. She's sitting very well, even anticipating the command, and
we're into learning the "down" command, too. We've been to Petsmart, and she
was great with the adults there. She's still unusually fearful about kids -
I'm thinking she was likely abused and/or frightened badly when she was
abandoned. She is good friends with the 90# golden retriever next door, and
they play just like she did with your labs. She has been so good about being
in the crate during the day - at least up until the last two days. Right
when it's time for me to go to work, she turns into a 40# rag doll who wants
extra tummy rubs. She eventually goes in with good grace, but she REALLY
tries to persuade me that it's not necessary!! We've gone visiting, and she
enjoys being in the car. My only problem is she wants to crawl between the
bucket seats to sit on the arm rest. Unfortunately, the arm rest is not her
size! I feel right at home with all the puppy nose smudges on the windows.
As far as the cats are concerned, the first week was torture for them.
Maddie SO wanted to play, and they all ran for their lives. The more they
ran, the more she chased. Finally, my 3 oldest cats, who have been around
active dogs, lost interest in running. They all are back on the bed at night
(along with Madison, of course). The 2 younger cats are SLOWLY recognizing
the fact that Madison just wants to get close and personal. Madison has lots
of toys (of course, plastic water bottles are more fun) and we play fetch
and tug of war a lot. We've gone on walks, and she's had her first tub bath,
at which she behaved very well. Her feet still look big, so she still
has some growing to do. I'll send further updates as she grows. Thanks again
for giving me the privilege of having Madison in my home!

Bailey
(formerly Max) loves his new home. He sleeps with his new daddy
at night and pals around with his new big sister Ivy. Ivy and Max enjoy
terrorizing the fish and playing with their fuzzy poof balls together.
Max follows his big sister everywhere and she’s even started grooming him.
Thank you,
Stephanie

Okay it's official Newman is in his forever home. He has
3 cats who puff up at him & he just shrugs & says "Whatever"
& a little pom who barks at him & he just laughs. His mom loves
him so here's a happy ending!

All is well
here! Daisy has had 2 sessions at "dog
school" as Anna calls it and all of us --
even
Anna -- are trying to
help her with her
"homework". She is a wonderful dog, already
well trained thanks to her foster family
and she gets along with all the neighbors
(people and dogs -- she isn't very fond of
the squirrels...)
She is so much better
about wearing her gentle leader
headcollar -
so much so that I walk her down our street
every morning with Anna, before I take her
to preschool. We are trying to work on
getting her not to jump up on
Anna's
friends when they visit but, other than
that, she is just perfect! We take walks on
campus, and she loves to run with Dad.
Did I tell you
Anna's new
name for Daisy is "Sissy."
How cute is that?
Beth
This is our
new addition (yes ano ther
rescue pyr.). His name is Gunner, he's 3.5 yrs.old, voice
command trained, and the biggest baby you have ever seen.
Right now he waiting for his hair to grow back, it was cut because
of all the matting, but he will be beautiful when it grows back.
Gunner on Right and Jennie on left in photo. Loving, kind,
very understanding and soft hearted wife in middle.
He had great
foster parents and the people at PAWS in Ohio loved him allot, but he
needed a forever home. Well you know me.

Here is a new picture of Madison
- she is becoming
quite the grown up little dog.....and certainly gives us a
"run for our money". She is hilarious!
We've decided to start her up with agility training which starts next week.
I think it will be good for her as she has a very deep instinct for herding
everything (especially all the neighborhood kids on bikes and roller blades - we have to work hard on
managing that one). The trainer thinks she has a lot of border collie in her
with the way she moves and acts. We are also considering looking into this "flyball"
thing - I hear that is a lot fun and actually "better" than agility, but,
we'll see... She needs to be doing "something" all the time because she is a
busy little girl....so this will be good for her both physically and
mentally...
She loves everyone that comes to visit and has gotten to the point where she
can be "on the loose" on the first floor during the day while we're at work
- so she is definitely growing up and getting used the day to day routine.

Here are some pictures of Kasey (aka
Lacey). She
is doing well and is learning something new everyday. I wish we could
bottle her energy! Her favorite things to do are watch Kitty TV ( the
fish tank), climb the fake ficus tree, chase her new playmate, Raven,
around and play fetch with her favorite ball. She needs a little work
on the whole fetch idea, but she's getting better every day. As playful
as she is she is equally loving. I've never had a cat that purrs as
much as Kasey. She loves to curl
up in my lap for her afternoon nap. I think I enjoy it as much as she
does.
I would like to thank you for giving me the
chance to raise Kasey. She was so well cared for when I adopted her. I
hope anyone that is looking for a cat or kitten will adopt from your
organization. You really care about your animals and it shows through
in Kasey.
Sincerely,
Angela K. Matousek

All
is well here! Daisy has had 2 sessions at "dog school" as Evie
calls it and all of us -- even Evie -- are trying to help her with
her "homework". She is a wonderful dog, already well trained thanks
to Jane and Dan and she gets along with all the neighbors (people
and dogs -- she isn't very fond of the squirrels...)
Take care,
Beth
Hi! Just wanted to give you an update on
"Charlie"! We saw most of the people that dealt with his adoption
at the PAWS polo
field
walk a thon, but for those of you who we missed, I just wanted to let you
know how
he's doing. His new name is "Keller" since he's deaf we named him after
Helen Keller :) He's doing wonderful and getting along great with his boxer
buddie Justice. He knows some basic hand signals like "no", "good boy",
"sit", " lay down", "crate", "out", "come" and he's learning "off". He's
completely house broken and sleeps in our bed with us every night. He loves
other dogs and plays great with all kinds. And boy he sure knows how to
bark! Most people think that since he's deaf he doesn't bark. Well that's a
miss conception! He barks and growls and "talks" all of the time. He's a
great addition to our family and I don't know what we would do with out him.
Please tell his little pit bull friend "Daisy" that we said hello and that
Keller misses her terribly. They had a great time playing at the polo field.
I've enclosed a recent picture of him at the polo field. Thanks for your
time.

Sonny is settling in well. Yesterday she gave
me a scare when I woke up and I could not find her.
I searched the house 4 or 5 times, then went out to the garage, and then
outside to see if she had
gotten out when my son left earlier for the police department. He is a
detective on the Maple Heights Police.
I kept walking around the house calling Sonny– then I finally heard this
faint squeak, so I called Sonny, listened for
the squeak till I finally traced it to the kitchen. Well I opened one of the
lower cabinet doors, and she
shot out like
a rocket and kept rubbing my legs. She must have been in there for an hour because this is the cabinet where my son keeps his
coffee.
All of my other cats were talkers, especially the Burmese, but Sonny has
such a small voice–
I told her she needs to learn to speak up.
She truly is a very loving cat. Thank you again for your assistance.
Regards, Murray.
This is Mister (right) and his new little
brother, Charlie (aka as HOW - Hell on Wheels). Mister used to be the one to jump out and jump on the other cats in
our household, now it's coming
around full circle. Charlie is the jumper. Deb and Nancy are
grateful that little Charlie is in their lives.

Whitney is having a great time with Rhett. He is getting along very
well, and he can now go
all over the house without getting into anything. He
seems so much bigger than when she first brought him home.
Thanks,
Myca, Whitney, Rhett and family

Jack and Jill found
their forever homes and their new families have
decided to schedule play dates together!

Malcolm is
doing great! He really
is a wonderful puppy, I don't know
how anyone
could have left him behind, I couldn't live without him now
that he's here!
We go to the
park and take long walks through the snow, he loves to eat
little snowballs and branches and play with the other dogs
that are there, he is very popular! He's met pretty much
the whole family and likes to play with the kids and
other dogs. He had a day at the spa, where he got a bath
and his nails clipped and
he starts school on 01/07, which I can tell he is very
excited about. We've been practicing and getting him ready
for his first day of class, he knows sit and come so far.
Malcolm is very intelligent but I don't want him to grow up
too fast, he is still
all puppy... haha. Lilly is coming around to him, they play
here and there, I have a feeling they will be very close!!
I included
some pictures and both Malcolm and I want to say THANK YOU
for bringing us together, it has filled a little void for
both of us. I truly believe that things happen for a
reason, and he was left behind for me and he will never have
to worry about being left behind again! Happy
Holidays!!! Love,
Santina & Malcolm
Faith and Hope are absolutely
wonderful and
delightful! They were a joy on the trip and
even more of a joy here at home. They have their own "cat
condo", with new water and food dishes, and with a new
"electric litter box", all tucked away in Frank's large home
office. We began the next day after we got home to
introduce them to the dogs and now they are roaming free all
through the day - the dogs are pretty cool with them. At
night we still are keeping the kittens in the office, but
soon they will be free to roam the house all the time.

Calico is doing great. She has become a
"Daddy's Girl" and loves to lay by Chuck. For not being a lap kitty,
she sure does love to lay by us. I wake up in the middle of the night
with her sleeping on my pillow or swatting at my feet when they move.
She has an amazing vocabulary. I've never had a cat that had so many
different "vocals". It is like she is talking to us and answering our
questions. She does like her catnip. We can tell when she has been
into it because she flies through the house like a bird, pounces on us
or just gets ornery. She is so funny.
Shadow, my dog, wants to play but Calico is still a little skittish
around him. She is warming up to him a little at night on the bed. She
will lay nose-to-nose with him for a while, then she will take off and
hide.
I'm glad we got her.
Thanks,

Named Grady (left) and
Coco for the two Cleveland Indian young talents before their season ended in
the toilet…which incidentally is where these two adorable adolescents like
to dump vanity top items like tissue boxes, hair brushes and cotton squares.
The thoughtful felines are good enough to unroll toilet paper for the lazy
humans and creatively decorate it to look like Charlie Brown’s ghost
costume.
Although they are
brothers, Grady (the Greaser) is tough and has short slick hair while Coco
(the Puff) has beautifully extending long hair and passively yields all food
to Grady’s panicked eating. Coco prefers to savor dinner courses after Grady
is gorged. But when all bathroom and kitchen duties are satisfied they’re
like…well, pussy cats… being very loving and full of innocence. Coco seems
to have a need to breast feed and settles for ear lobes, eye lids and
fingers. Grady is a comfortable “lap cat” and prefers to chomp fingers and
toes.
Their human friend
provided a six foot tall tree house that looks out their 8th
floor lake apartment safe from the chaos below. Aside from the adult human
they are smothered with attention from Adam (11) and Renee (17) whom are
frequent inhabitants of the home.
Much appreciation to
Paws Ohio network that provide such wonderful service. Rick
Even though they
came from two different homes, it only took them a couple of days to become
best friends. Piper bathes Pumpkin constantly with her tongue, they
love playing together, and they curl up with each other for naps. They
have distinct personalities--Pumpkin is a total lap cat and purrs so loudly
I worry our neighbors will hear. While Piper is more independent and prefers
to curl up near you and her purr isn't quite as
loud, but she loves to give kisses (she gets up in your face and licks you!).
They are such a wonderful addition to our family, we love them so much!
Thank you for all your help!
Jessica
